Get Fuller, Longer and Darker Lashes with Latisse®

Latisse®

You probably had beautiful, long and thick eyelashes when you were a child and throughout your young adult years. However, as we age, our lash growth tends to diminish, leaving us with short and sparse eyelashes. Rather than simply looking back fondly on your youth, you can get Latisse®.

This prescription solution is the only FDA-approved treatment for addressing inadequate eyelashes. With Latisse®, you can get fuller, longer and darker lashes once again.

About Latisse®

Hypotrichosis is the lack of adequate eyelashes, and it is a common issue that many of us can anticipate as we get older. Applying Latisse® to the base of your lashes once every night before bed for 16 weeks can return your lost lashes.

The active ingredient, bimatoprost, is thought to increase the active growing phase of the lash growth cycle, allowing more hairs to sprout than would normally occur. Latisse® cannot be obtained without a prescription from a physician.

The ingredients were initially formulated to be used in drop form as a way to treat high intraocular pressure. This product was manufactured by a company called Allergan, and it began providing these drops to patients in 2001.

A large number of these patients began mentioning a side effect of longer, fuller and darker eyelashes. This pattern prompted Allergan to study the usefulness of bimatoprost in consistent lash growth.

These studies were conclusive in favor of the anecdotal results of patients, and Latisse® received FDA approval for treating sparse lash growth in December 2008.

Tips for Use

Always be sure to wash your face and remove your eye makeup prior to applying Latisse®. When using Latisse®, it’s best to take advantage of the sterile applicators that come with the medicine.

Using a new applicator for each eye will help to avoid contamination. Try to be sure you place the medication at the base of the upper lid, as close as possible to the lash line. Wipe any excess away with a tissue.

There are very few side effects associated with Latisse®. Taking care to apply it with precision and on a regular schedule, you’ll likely begin to see results in as little as four weeks. Keep going, though, as full growth doesn’t occur until about four months of consistent use.
