Kybella™

Kybella

As we age, the skin underneath the chin becomes lax and can accumulate pockets of fat, often referred to as a “double chin.” At Cosmetic Surgical Arts Center, we now offer Kybella™ injections for the non-surgical treatment of submental fat under the chin. It is a non-surgical alternative to “double chin surgery”.

With locations in Lynnwood and Mount Vernon, Cosmetic Surgical Arts Center also serves the Seattle/Bellevue area in Washington and is led by triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Don Wortham. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and find out if Kybella™ is right for you.

What is Kybella™?

The first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for submental fat, Kybella™ is a non-surgical option to more extensive procedures such as liposuction. Kybella™ is comprised of deoxycholic acid, which has been proven to effectively treat areas of moderate to severe excess fat underneath the chin.

Both men and women experience excess fat under the chin, which can be caused by several factors, including:

This area is often difficult to target with diet and exercise alone, but Kybella™ can help restore natural, youthful contours to your profile.

What Can I Expect?

During your consultation with Dr. Wortham, you will create a customized treatment plan to achieve your desired results. Most patients experience visible results in their submental fullness between two and four treatments that are spaced about a month apart.

Kybella™ is injected directly into the fatty areas of the chin, and while some discomfort may be experienced as the needle is inserted, this treatment is typically well-tolerated by most patients.

Am I a Good Candidate for Kybella™?

Men and women who are self-conscious about or dissatisfied with the fullness of their chins and who are in overall good health with no contraindicating medical conditions may be good candidates for Kybella™.

During your consultation with Dr. Wortham, several factors will be discussed such as your medical history and cosmetic goals to help you determine whether Kybella™ is the best course of treatment for you.

Is Kybella™ Safe?

Kybella™ has been a part of over 20 clinical trials worldwide and has a high success rate and proven safety profile. While some major side effects have been associated with Kybella,™ they are rare and have only occurred in a small percentage of patients.

Bruising, swelling and redness at injection sites are common side effects after treatment, which are temporary and should subside during the first week of treatment.

Contact Cosmetic Surgical Arts Center today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Wortham and find out if you are a candidate for Kybella™ injections.
