As a result of the aging process and gravity, excess skin and fat can hang down from the underarms. This area is difficult to target through diet and exercise, but at Cosmetic Surgical Arts, our arm lift surgery can reshape and tighten this area for long-lasting results.

With two locations in Lynnwood and Mount Vernon in Washington, Cosmetic Surgical Arts is led by triple board-certified surgeon Dr. Don Wortham. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and find out if you are a candidate for arm lift surgery.

What is Arm Lift Surgery?

Also known as a brachioplasty, arm lift surgery removes excess skin and fat hanging underneath the arms, creating a more toned, youthful appearance. This procedure can benefit both women and men who are experiencing sagging underarms due to the aging process or as a result of significant weight loss.

A typical arm lift procedure involves an incision underneath the arm that can extend from the elbow to the armpit, depending on the amount of loose skin that needs to be removed. Once localized pockets of fat and extra skin are removed, the remaining skin is pulled taut around the arm and sutured into place, creating tighter, firmer contours.

Incision patterns, as well as options for visible scarring, can be discussed with Dr. Wortham during your consultation.

Am I a Good Candidate for Arm Lift Surgery?

Both men and women who are experiencing noticeably sagging skin and pockets of fat underneath their arms and who have no contraindicating medical conditions may be candidates for arm lift surgery. During your consultation, Dr. Wortham will evaluate several factors such as your health, medical history, skin condition and aesthetic goals to help you determine whether this procedure is right for you as well as what treatment options are available to you.

What is the Recovery Time?

Although recovery time may depend on the extent of your procedure, the initial healing phase of arm lift surgery is typically short, with many patients returning to light work and activities within a week. Results are typically immediately noticeable, but some post-surgical bruising and swelling will be present for a few weeks. Doctor Wortham will advise you on when you can return to normal activities as well as any aftercare instructions that may be necessary for your incision sites.

Contact Cosmetic Surgical Arts today to schedule a consultation and find out how arm lift surgery can tighten and recontour your underarms for more fit and toned appearance.
