Why is Chin Enhancement Performed?

Also known as genioplasty, chin enhancement can help men and women correct chins that are:

Having a chin that is disproportionate to the rest of your facial features can make the nose appear too large or the neck too full. Correcting this cosmetic concern can restore harmony to your appearance and draw attention to your natural beauty.

How is Chin Enhancement Performed?

Depending on your individual condition and the degree that your chin needs to be corrected, there are multiple chin enhancement techniques that can be utilized, the main two being through dermal fillers and chin implants.

Dermal Fillers for Chin Enhancement

At Cosmetic Surgical Arts, we offer a wide range of dermal fillers to correct various signs of aging such as lines, wrinkles, and loss of shape in the cheeks. Some of our dermal fillers can also be used to provide temporary enhancement to the chin. These injectable treatments are administered with a fine needle underneath the skin and immediately begin to lift the skin using hyaluronic acid and other substances that are found naturally in the body. Dermal fillers can create results that last for several months, but they are a temporary solution and are eventually absorbed by the body.

Chin Enhancement Using Implants

Chin implants are placed using a surgical procedure that can be performed using local anesthesia with oral or light intravenous sedation. Incision patterns can be discussed with Dr. Wortham prior to treatment, but typically incisions are made either in the natural crease line underneath the chin or inside of the mouth. Incisions will be placed carefully in order to minimize post-surgical scarring, and the implant will be shaped and positioned based on your individual specifications to create an appearance that always looks natural.
