Artefill

artefill-cosmetic-surgical-arts-lynnwood-mount-vernon-seattle-washington Artefill is a long lasting solution for wrinkle correction! Unlike many other dermal fillers, Artefill is not absorbed by the body and works long term at fighting lines and loss of volume in facial tissue.

Are you ready for a dermal filler that goes the distance? Artefill’s unique microsphere enhanced collagen is not absorbed by the body. Once injected, it creates a support matrix for long lasting wrinkle correction by working together with your body’s own collagen. With Artefill, improvements continue to be seen for several months following treatment as it encourages your body to produce its own collagen and provides long term support via the matrix of microspheres. Once realized, improvements do not go away but rather stand the test of time.

The safety profile of Artefill is excellent, with minimal or no side effects. Treatments are completed in our office during a short visit, and you may immediately return to your daily activities. The tiny microspheres in Artefill are made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), one of the most widely used materials in medicine since 1949. The microspheres in Artefill remain intact at the injection site and provide structural support to keep your wrinkles from returning.

Treatments are not typically painful. Artefill is formulated with lidocaine to ease discomfort, and we may use a topical or local anesthetic agent to further ease any discomfort. With proper placement, you cannot even feel Artefill after it has been injected. Some patients may experience mild swelling and/or redness at the treatment site. These side effects are usually temporary. Occasionally, there is mild bruising that typically disappears in three to seven days. Less common side effects include rash and itching more than 48 hours after treatment, persistent swelling or redness, and increased sensitivity at some or all injection sites. Two other rare potential side effects of all dermal fillers may be lumps and granulomas, which we can treat effectively if they should occur.

Be sure to call your doctor immediately if you notice any unusual skin reactions around the treatment area.

The number of treatments needed for desired results varies from patient to patient, but most patients need only one or two Artefill Treatments for desired results. Dr. Wortham will discuss whether additional treatments are desired at your follow-up appointment.
