The FRAXEL™ Re:pair Treatment
Fraxel Re:pair laser treatments are performed in our office under topical anesthesia; deeper treatments may be performed with additional local anesthesia and IV sedation. After cleansing the skin, an anesthetic ointment is applied for 30 to 60 minutes. The robotic hand piece, under direct physician control, glides across the skin applying the laser treatment. The anesthetic is washed off immediately after treatment.
A Fraxel treatment will typically take approximately 40-60 minutes. It delivers dramatic results in a single treatment—without weeks of downtime that conventional CO2 lasers require. Results are immediate and progressive, with optimal improvement usually visible in about two to three months with additional gradual improvement for up to a year.
Recovery
While individual results vary, Fraxel offers the benefits of speedy healing with about one week of downtime. A skin care regimen is made for each patient a few weeks before the planned treatment. Despite a limited risk of infection or scarring, antibiotics and antivirals are used and daily clinic follow-up is continued for 5 to 7 days after the procedure to ensure proper gentle cleansing and application of healing serums and ointments for optimal recovery.
New epidermal skin develops within a few days and requires adequate sun protection for several months after treatment. Most patients can apply make-up after 4 to 6 days and return to routine activities a week after the procedure.
