Preparing for a Cosmetic Surgery Consultation

The beginning of your cosmetic surgery journey begins the moment you schedule a consultation. It can be overwhelming at first when you begin to think about all your questions, and you may wonder what the appointment will be like. Here are a few things that can help you prepare for your cosmetic surgery consultation and hopefully put your mind at ease.

Consider Your Goals

If you decide to undergo surgery, it’s important to have a clear idea of what you want out of the procedure. You can find pictures that have inspired you or are along the lines of how you would like the area of concern to look after surgery, for example. However, everyone’s bodies are different, so be sure to keep in mind that you may need to tailor your goals for your unique body. During the consultation, Dr. Wortham will listen to your aspirations and goals and then discuss with you the best way to achieve them.

Prepare Your Questions

It’s completely normal to have a million questions at first. Some of them will be answered automatically in the consultation when you begin discussing a plan with Dr. Wortham. It’s a good idea to write down any questions you may have that you think won’t be covered or that you want to make sure are answered before you leave. There will be plenty of time during the consultation to ask them, and if more questions arise after your visit, another consultation can be scheduled, or you can call us and we will get you the answers you need.

Attend the Consultation

When the day of your consultation arrives, be sure to plan enough time to get to your appointment, park and fill out paperwork. Schedule it during a time you won’t feel rushed so you can take your time and address all your questions and concerns. Be prepared with any medical history that could be relevant, and ask questions from the list you have prepared.

Half of the appointment will be spent discussing your goals, options and questions and the other half will be a physical exam of the area you are considering improving.
