Treating Crow’s Feet with BOTOX

BOTOX

Crow’s feet and smile lines are forms of dynamic wrinkles, lines that become apparent when the facial skin is stretched or relaxed. Muscle contractions below the skin create our facial expressions. Unfortunately, many adults experience annoying crow’s feet and frown lines when they smile or look surprised, and this makes them appear much older. If this sounds like you, a simple BOTOX® treatment may be just what you need to help restore your confidence and self-esteem. BOTOX® is a proven method for eliminating dynamic wrinkles and help take years off your appearance.

A Non-Surgical Treatment

Dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet can be treated with a variety of treatments. However, many of them can result in discoloration of the skin, scarring, or the appearance of wrinkles in other regions of the skin surface.

BOTOX® is perfect for those who are not yet ready to undergo more invasive procedures. BOTOX® does involve the introduction of a chemical solution, but this compound doesn’t affect the skin itself. Instead, it relaxes the facial muscles that lie directly beneath the skin. Signals from the brain don’t reach the muscles, so the muscles don’t contract. This means that the facial skin remains smooth, and crow’s feet simply don’t become visually apparent.

How It Works

Crow’s feet tend to appear near the corner of the mouth or directly beside the eyes. Muscle movements that control the expressions made by the mouth cause wrinkling through skin relaxation. Crow’s feet near the eyes occur because the skin is very thin and therefore subject to wrinkling when this skin is relaxed.

When we consult with the client, we may examine the face and ask the client to make certain facial expressions. This can help us determine the exact injection sites. We inject the BOTOX® solution, and once it settles in beneath the skin, it immediately begins to relax the muscles. The client can still make facial expressions, but the skin remains smoother.

Long-Lasting Effects

BOTOX® normally works for several months. After that, repeat injections will be necessary, but each subsequent treatment requires less and less of the BOTOX® fluid. The client will soon notice that the muscles are becoming more or less trained to stay relaxed.

All of this is possible without surgery or any form of abrasive resurfacing. Crow’s feet and smile lines are barely visible, and the result is smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.
