Lift and Tighten Loose Skin with Nonsurgical Ultherapy®

February 1, 2016 by

Ultherapy®

Loose skin is the result of aging, the effects of gravity, and a decrease in the amount of collagen production. Tightening these loose skin folds and minimizing the appearance of fine line wrinkles can be achieved by strengthening the supporting tissues that lie beneath the dermal layers. One of the most effective methods for smoothing the skin and increasing collagen production is the use of sound energy.

Similar to ultrasound, the revolutionary Ultherapy® treatment is preferred by our clients because it is non-invasive and doesn’t involve any surgery or chemical introduction. We encourage you to consider this simple outpatient therapy if you are concerned about sagging skin on your face, forehead, arms, or elsewhere.

How Sound Energy Works

Energy is always conserved, meaning it doesn’t go away. Regardless of the type – light, heat, or sound – energy is always transferred from one location to another. Sound energy actually produces a small amount of heat because some of the molecular vibrations are stored by another medium as potential energy. When you clap your hands, motion energy is changed to heat energy.

Ultherapy® uses a device that produces a specific set of sound wavelengths. This energy passes right through the skin and is absorbed by the supporting tissue. When this tissue heats up, collagen production is increased because the body is responding to what seems like slight tissue damage. The result is stronger subdermal tissue, and the skin it supports becomes smoother and more elastic.

Who is a Candidate for Ultherapy®?

Those who have mild to moderate skin laxity, such as loose skin on the neck, sagging eyelids, or chest wrinkling are ideal candidates. Chin sags can also be treated using Ultherapy®. We recommend the scheduling of a consultation with our professionals to determine whether this cosmetic treatment is the right choice.

What Happens During Treatment

The area to be treated is mapped out, and the device is then set to deliver just the right wavelengths of sound energy. The procedure might provide some discomfort.

Treatment time may vary. Afterward, the skin may appear red because the body is sending increased amounts of blood to the tissue that lies beneath. This dissipates rapidly, however.

As the body produces more and more collagen, our clients begin to see noticeable results. Generally, large sags and skin folds continue to decrease in size over the next two or three months. Most individuals are satisfied with the results of a single treatment.
